Investment Objective
The objective of the Fund is to provide a positive total return over a market cycle. The Fund invests to gain exposure to derivatives (mainly swaps on commodity indices) and other commodity-linked instruments (such as eligible exchange traded commodities, exchange traded notes, open-ended exchange traded funds) that provide exposure to the following four sectors of the commodities markets: agriculture, energy, industrial metals and precious metals. The Fund will build a strategic allocation to commodities and then tactically adjust this exposure based on the market environment. The Fund may use securities lending for efficient portfolio management purposes. The Fund may make significant use of derivatives (complex instrument) to achieve the investment objective and may be highly leveraged (i.e where the Fund gains market exposure in excess of the net asset value ('NAV') of the Fund), up to 600% using the sum of notionals. The use of derivatives transactions may expose the Fund to counterparty risks that may result in losses to the Fund associated with the bankruptcy or insolvency of a counterparty. The Fund's exposure to cash and money market instruments for the purposes of cover for derivatives may be up to 100% of its NAV.The Fund is actively managed and is not constrained by its benchmark, the Bloomberg Commodity Index (Total Return), which is used for comparison purposes. As the benchmark is a suitable proxy for the investment strategy and the investment universe of commodities is finite, it is likely that most of the commodities that are represented in the Fund are also represented in the benchmark. As an actively managed fund, this overlap may change. The Fund has broad discretion over portfolio construction and therefore securities, weightings and risk characteristics will differ. As a result, it is expected that over time the risk return characteristics of the Fund may diverge materially to the benchmark. You can buy and sell shares in the Fund on any Dealing Day ( |
