Investment Objective
The Fund aims to achieve a return on your investment, through a combination of capital growth and income on the Fund's assets, which reflects the return of the developed world equity markets. The Fund is passively managed and invests so far as possible and practicable in equity securities (e.g. shares) that make up the MSCI World Index, the Fund's benchmark index. The benchmark index measures the performance of the equity market of the developed markets globally and is a free float-adjusted market capitalisation weighted index. Free float-adjusted means that only shares readily available in the market rather than all of a company's issued shares are used in calculating the benchmark index. Free float-adjusted market capitalisation is the share price of a company multiplied by the number of shares readily available in the market. As at the end of November 2018, the benchmark index consists of the following 23 developed market country indices: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The Fund intends to replicate the benchmark index by holding the equity securities, which make up the benchmark index, in similar proportions to it. The investment manager may also use financial derivative instruments (i.e. investments the prices of which are based on one or more underlying assets) to help achieve the Fund's investment objective. The Fund may also engage in short term secured lending of its investments to certain eligible third parties. This is used as a means of generating additional income and to off-set the costs of the Fund. The price of equity securities fluctuates daily and may be influenced by factors affecting the performance of the individual companies issuing the equities, as well as by daily stock market movements, and broader economic and political developmen |
