Investment Objective
The Fund aims to maximise the return on your investment through a combination of capital growth and income on the Fund's assets and invest in a manner consistent with the principles of environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing. The Fund invests at least 70% of its total assets in the equity securities (e.g. shares) of companies domiciled in, or the main business of which is in, the People's Republic of China. The Fund will invest only in onshore Chinese equity markets (known as "A Shares") and so Hong Kong, the Macau Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan are excluded. The Fund may invest in the Chinese equity markets through the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect. In order to achieve its investment objective and policy, the Fund will invest in a variety of investment strategies and instruments. In particular, the Fund will use quantitative (i.e. mathematical or statistical) models in order to achieve a systematic (i.e. rule based) approach to stock selection. This means that stocks will be selected based on their expected contribution to portfolio returns when risk and transaction cost forecasts are taken into account. The Fund will take into account environment, social and governance criteria when selecting investments as disclosed in the prospectus and at the BlackRock website at www.blackrock.com/baselinescreens. The IA may use financial derivative instruments (FDIs) (i.e. investments the prices of which are based on one or more underlying assets) for investment purposes in order to achieve the investment objective of the Fund, and/or to reduce risk within the Fund's portfolio, reduce investment costs and generate additional income. The Fund may, via FDIs, generate varying amounts of market leverage (i.e. where the Fund gains market exposure in excess of the value of its assets). The Fund is actively managed, and the IA has discretion to select the Fund's investments. In doing so, the IA will refer to the MSCI Chi |
