Investment Objective
The Fund aims to achieve a return on your investment, through a combination of capital growth and income on the Funds' investments, which reflects the return of the J.P. Morgan EMBI Global Core Index hedged to Swiss Francs, the Fund's benchmark index (Index). The Fund is passively managed and aims to invest so far as possible and practicable in fixed income (FI) securities (such as bonds) that make up the Index and FX forward contracts. If the credit ratings of the FI securities are downgraded, the Fund may continue to hold these until they cease to form part of the Index and it is practicable to sell the position. The Index provides a return on the J.P. Morgan EMBI Global Core Index (Parent Index) which measures the performance of actively traded FI securities in emerging market countries. The Parent Index offers exposure to US Dollar denominated sovereign and quasi-sovereign entities from emerging markets countries. The FI securities include both investment grade (i.e. meet a specified level of creditworthiness) and subinvestment grade securities (i.e. have a relatively low credit rating credit or are unrated but deemed to be of comparable quality with sub-investment grade FI securities). The Index also uses a one month foreign exchange (FX) forward contract to hedge the entire market value of the Index, plus accruals, back to Swiss Francs. Hedging reduces the effect of fluctuations in the exchange rates between the currencies of the FI securities that make up the Index and Swiss Francs, the base currency of the Fund. The Fund may also engage in short-term secured lending of its investments to certain eligible third parties to generate additional income to off-set the costs of the Fund. The Fund uses optimising techniques to achieve a similar return to its Index. These may include the strategic selection of certain securities that make up the Index or other FI securities which provide similar performance to certain constituent securities. These may also include th
